On Saturday 8 August in Engelsekerk, Amsterdam, Kwartet aan 't IJ will present their exploration and interpretation of Fanny Mendelssohn's beautiful String Quartet in Eb Major, alongside her brother Felix's String Quartet in F Minor.
Two siblings, two intertwined voices. In these string quartets, Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn share their musical voices shaped by family, mutual inspiration but also their unique places in society and its expectations. Where Felix’s legacy flourished, Fanny’s was long overlooked. This program invites listeners to hear them side by side, as the unique voices of the Mendelssohn siblings.
Concert starts at 15.15. Doors will open 30 minutes beforehand. We look forward to seeing you there!
